Halotherapy
What is Halotherapy?
Halotherapy, also known as salt therapy, has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for respiratory and skin conditions. The practice originated in Europe, where people would visit salt caves and mines to improve their health.
In the 1800s, a Polish physician named Feliks Boczkowski noticed that salt mine workers had lower rates of respiratory problems compared to other miners. He began to study the effects of salt on the respiratory system and developed a method of using salt aerosol to treat respiratory conditions.
In the early 1900s, salt therapy became more widely recognized as a natural remedy, and salt sanatoriums were established in Europe to provide treatment for respiratory and skin conditions.
During World War II, salt therapy was used to treat respiratory conditions in soldiers.
In the 1980s, halotherapy began to gain popularity in the United States, and salt rooms and halogenerators were developed to provide controlled salt therapy environments. Today, halotherapy is a popular natural therapy used by people all over the world to improve their respiratory and skin health.
